“The reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel. ♥”
Maybe my predictions are wrong,
but let’s be real guys.
Ted sitting there, at the bus stop, with the old lady, telling a story in excruciating detail… Kinda reminded me of Forrest Gump. Anybody else see it?

My How I Met Your Mother Predictions!
*may include spoilers from previous seasons - if you’re still watching through 1-7 then be wary and don’t get mad at me for ruining it!*
*I myself have not seen all of season 7! I saw the finale and a couple others. So maybe I’m completely off, don’t ruin it for me though! :)*
I started watching HIMYM on Netflix 6 months ago. I quickly came to love this show, and I feel like it just gets better and funnier every year. I remember the very first time I watched the first episode, and my first response when they showed us Robin was “Oh my gosh, she’s totally the mom, she looks so much like his two kids!!” And at the end of the episode, I was devastated to learn she was their aunt, not mom. Now I took that literally, as in, Aunt-meaning Ted marries her sister. I didn’t realize for a while that Ted uses “uncle” for both Marshall and Barney, and “aunt” for Robin and Lily.
However, if you remember from season 2, Robin DOES have a sister, Katie. We see her once, S-2 Episode 12, “First Time in New York”. In the episode, Ted helps convince her not to have sex with her looser boyfriend. We don’t hear anything about her after that. In the episode she was 14-16 - still in high school.
Now I’ve heard people make predictions about Barney’s sister/cousin/whatever, but I haven’t seen any episodes with her so I’m sticking with my own theory.
Ignore how weird/gross it is, (because Ted and Robin hooked up, and Katie is much younger than Ted) but I think Ted ends up with Robin’s sister Katie!
Here’s the facts that I know, that would support this theory: Well duh, Robin, Katie and the 2 kids look alike! Katie is pretty short compared to Robin though, but she was younger so she could have grown.
Ted’s wife was a college student when Ted was a professor. That would work, depending on Katie’s age, she could be a college student by then. She could have easily gone to that bar on St Patty’s day in Season 3. Too young, of course, but that happens. :p
And as we know, Robin and Barney are supposedly going to be getting married, so obviously she would be at the wedding, maybe even a bridesmaid. And Ted is the Best Man, so there’s a chance they met up there. However, Ted starts off this story with “The wedding that went terribly wrong”…so who knows about Robin and Barney. After having to wait all summer for this, it better be good! But whether or not Robin and Barney get married, we know for sure Ted meets his future wife there!
I know there are many out there who are sick of Ted and Robin getting together, breaking up, fighting, hooking up, etc. Since the first episode, we know she’s not the mother, so why are the writers putting in so much drama between them? Well, I think Robin has a very big role in Ted meeting the mother, which is why they want to show all these details. Say what you want about how tired you are of her, Robin is crucial to this story line and she’s in there for a reason!
Of course, there have been predictions about maybe the mother dies and that’s why Ted is telling this entire story. Maybe Robin dies, and that’s why he speaks so fondly of her. Maybe Ted and the mother are getting a divorce. Maybe they did a while ago, and Ted is about to tell the kids that Robin was the love of his life all along and he’s going to marry her after all. Anyway, I’m not really making predictions about this, I’m trying to just throw stuff out there.
Back to what I was saying. I think Katie is the mom. However, some things don’t line up perfectly. For instance, she’s already met Ted, so when he screwed up with the wrong classroom thing, she already knew who he was from that one time. And if she went to the same school he taught at, wouldn’t Robin have mentioned something? If her sister lived in NY, wouldn’t they see each other more? There just wasn’t a lot said about Katie when Robin talked about her childhood. Also, I kinda get the impression when I watch that Ted had never met the mother before. Well, when he met Katie in season 2, he was dating Robin so he wasn’t thinking about the potential of meeting his future wife that day. So maybe he met her in a new way at the wedding?
There, that’s just about all! Kudos to you for reading. Comment if you wish, and enjoy the season 8 premiere tonight!! YAY :)
